How To: Alcohol Action Planning for Local Governments

Local Governments play a key role in alcohol policies and injury prevention programs in WA, however the idea of developing an Alcohol Action Plan can be daunting. Join Injury Matters as we hear from guest presenter Linda Parsons, Senior Health Promotion Officer and Colby McGuire, Health Promotion Coordinator at the East Metropolitan Health Service, as they share the importance of an Alcohol Action Plan, with the process involved and evidence on what works. We will also hear from guest presenters Assunta Di Francesco, Health Promotion Coordinator at the East Metropolitan Health Service, Magdalene Lannary at the City of Gosnells, Coordinator Health and Compliance and Ellie Robinson at the City of Canning, Senior Environmental Health Officer share learnings, reflections and achievements of their involvement in the Armadale, Canning and Gosnells Local Drug Action Group and the process of updating their Cities of Armadale, Canning and Gosnells Alcohol Action Plan 2019-2022. Organisation support is key, and as such we will hear from a range of speakers including Cancer Council WA and Mental Health Commission who are key partners in the process.

- Increase knowledge of the importance of an Alcohol Action Plan for Local Government bodies in relation to injury prevention
- Increase awareness of the process and challenges that come with developing an Alcohol Action Plan
- Increase skill in producing an alcohol and drug action plan for local government bodies in WA
- Increased knowledge of the relevant resources and stakeholders to develop an Alcohol Action Plan for a Local Government body
