Let’s talk about violence in WA

10 May 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

FREE

Violence is a growing issue in Western Australia, with 17,134 hospitalisations due to assault and people aged 25 – 44 having the highest incidence of hospitalisations due to assault. Join Injury Matters and a range of professionals while we explore topics such as family and domestic violence and elder abuse, while hearing about a smoking cessation and violence prevention pilot program trialled at Royal Perth Hospital. We will hear from:

  • Lisa Jones from Lifeline WA on Family and Domestic Violence
  • Louise Forster from Advocare on Elder Abuse
  • Holly Scott and Rachel Wixon from East Metro Health Service on the Royal Perth Hospital Violence Prevention Pilot Project.

Learn more about the work being done in this space, and ways that you can advocate for safer environments in WA.

This webinar training aims to:

  • Increase knowledge of trends in violence in Western Australia
  • Increase awareness of violence advocacy areas in WA
  • Increase knowledge of violence services, support, resources, and referral pathways available in WA

This webinar is suitable for Local Government community safety workers,  advocates and policy officers, health promotion and public health professionals, WA Police, family and domestic violence organisations/women’s refuges/support services, country and regional health services, and Aboriginal health services and organisations.
