Motivational interviewing is a valuable tool for health professionals working with older adult clients who are resistant about change and provides workers with strategies and skills to support clients to implement meaningful behaviour change.

Join Injury Matters with guest facilitator Professor Moira Sim, from Edith Cowan University, for the Ready, willing, and able: Motivational interviewing in falls prevention practice online workshop. This training will explore motivational interviewing as a behaviour change strategy in falls prevention among older adults and aims to increase participant skills in applying a motivational interviewing approach within their own role.

This online workshop aims to:

• Increase awareness of motivational interviewing as a behaviour change strategy in falls prevention among older adults.
• Increase knowledge of the key processes in motivational interviewing with older adult clients.
• Increase skills in applying motivational interviewing techniques within a falls prevention context.
• Increase confidence in applying a motivational interviewing approach within own role.

This online workshop is suitable for health professionals who work closely with older adults such as practice nurses, health care workers, nutritionists and dieticians, occupational therapists, aged care workers, physiotherapists and exercise physiologists, social workers, carers and support workers, health promotion and public health practitioners.
