Setting the record straight on evidence-based exercises for falls prevention
30 August 2022 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
FREEFalls are a major public health concern – they are common in people aged 65 and older, and are the leading cause of injury in this age group. Around one-third of generally healthy people aged 65 and older will have at least one fall each year. It is important that health professionals working with older adults implement and promote evidence-based exercises that can decrease the incidence of fall related injury. Exercises to prevent falls can increase muscle strength, flexibility, balance, and reaction time as these risk factors for falls are considered the most readily modified.
Ahead of Stay On Your Feet®’s Move Your Body campaign, this webinar, with guest speaker Jenny Conlon from Notre Dame University, aims to go over the different evidence-based exercises that are proven to reduce falls in older adults, along with any tools or equipment that health professionals can use, as well as the screening methods for falls when working with an older adult client.
This webinar aims to:
- Increase knowledge of evidence-based exercises for falls prevention
- Increase awareness of the different tools and equipment that can be used in evidence-based falls prevention exercises
- Increase skills in performing falls prevention screening
Who should attend?
