Join the Local Government Community Safety Network

The Local Government Community Safety Network (LGSCN) Organising Committee is responsible for developing engaging, relevant and contemporary content for the Local Government Sector relating to Community Safety.

The Organising Committee is seeking Expressions of Interest from Local Government Officers who work in Community Safety, Community Development or related roles in providing expertise and enthusiasm towards developing new events, webinars and forums.

Who should join?

Three (3) Local Government Officer positions on the committee are available. As a committee member, you will bring substantial experience in Community Safety and related fields and a background in developing engaging content and events. You will be working with representatives from Injury Matters, Western Australia Police Force, Western Australia Local Government Association (WALGA) and other key stakeholders.

The committee meets on an infrequent basis depending on the program being developed; however, you can expect to contribute at least 3-4 hours per month to support various activities and tasks to ensure events, forums and webinars are delivered to a high standard.

The committee is currently investigating strategic themes relating to Community Safety that are highly relevant to the sector to inform upcoming events, webinars and forums, including:

  • Youth participation and crime prevention with links to Local Drug Action teams and Alcohol strategies; and
  • Technology-based crime with links to cyber safety and online security.
