Deaths on rural roads in Australia accounted for almost two-thirds of the 2023 road toll, despite fewer than a third of Australia’s population residing outside major cities. With 811 lives lost on rural regional roads in Australia in 2023, and thousands more experiencing severe and often permanent injuries, the Australian Road Safety Foundation reminds us that each road user is responsible to make safer choices on and off the road.
This year the Australia Road Safety Foundation is asking individuals to “Help sow the seeds of change, road safety starts with you!”. Access campaign resources and information at the ARSF website.
