Safety 2022 Conference abstracts are open
The 14th World Conference on Injury Prevention & Safety Promotion is happening from 27 to 30 November 2022 in Adelaide. Invites are now open for abstract submissions for oral presentations, rapid fire and conversation starter presentations.

Social and Economic Costs of Alcohol Use in Australia
The National Drug Research Institute (NDRI) at Curtin University has published the first national update in a decade regarding the costs of alcohol use. The report highlights a number of statistics, including that from July 2017 to June 2018 there were 42,244 alcohol-attributable hospital presentations due to injury.
National Elder Abuse Prevalence Study: Final Report
A national survey of 7,000 community-dwelling people aged 65 and over has quantified that elder abuse is a serious problem in Australia that requires action. It is estimated that almost 15% of community-dwelling people older people in Australia experience elder abuse.
