Nominations open for the AIPN Awards 2024 

The AIPN is gearing up to honour those who have made outstanding contributions to injury prevention and safety promotion.

AIHW Health System Spending 2020-21 Web Report 

The AIHW’s latest web report highlights that injury caused the fifth highest cost to the health system in WA during the 2020-21 financial year. This $1,143 million in expenses accounted for 9.9% of all hospital expenses in WA.

National Health and Climate Strategy 

The newly released National Health and Climate Strategy sets out a whole-of-government plan for addressing the health and wellbeing impacts of climate change. The Strategy acknowledges the impacts of climate change on an individual’s injury risk and commits to key actions over the next five years.  

Latest Kidsafe WA Reports 

Two new Childhood Injury Research Reports are now available, providing a summary of injury presentations to the Perth Children’s Hospital Emergency Department regarding Button Batteries and an Annual Data Report.  

Suicide prevention awards now open 

The 2024 Suicide Prevention Australia LiFE Awards are open to honour the efforts in suicide prevention across the country. The five categories recognise the diverse and innovative efforts being undertaken to save lives and reduce suicide.  

Nominations close 15 January 2024.  

Play Well Participation Grant Program 

Australian Sports Commission Play Well Participation Grant Program will invest in innovative new or expand existing programs that address the barriers to participation and increase involvement in sport and physical activity. 

Applications close 2pm Friday 23 February 2024 

Connecting to Country Grant 

Grants of up to $25,000 are available for eligible individuals and organisations to undertake on Country activities. 

Launch of the 100 Families in WA Report 

The report, entitled ‘Looking Through an Aboriginal Lens: Results of the Ngalang Moort Wangkiny Project’, resulted from a collaborative project between the Centre for Social Impact at UWA and the Western Australian Council of Social Service. 

Australian Falls Guideline Recommendations and Good Practice Points
Now Available for Consultation 

The draft Recommendations and Good Practice Points from the Australian Fall Prevention Guidelines, prepared for the Australian Commission on Quality and Safety in Health Care, are now available for consultation here.
