Stay On Your Feet® Remove Hazards grants

Applications for Stay On Your Feet® Remove Hazards grants are now open! Grants of up to $5,000 (plus GST) are available and will fund projects running between 1 September and 30 November 2023.

Grants are open to community groups and not-for-profit organisations, health professionals, and community workers working with older adults, retirement and lifestyle villages, optometry or podiatry clinics, and local governments.


National Road Safety Week

National Road Safety Week is an annual initiative run by the Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) Group. Running from 14 – 21 May the week highlights the impact of road trauma and ways to reduce it. There are a number of initiatives happening in WA during the Week so be sure to keep an eye out for local activities.


The Australian Government bans non-prescription vapes

Injury Matters is pleased to see the Australian Government ban non-prescription vapes. With Kidsafe WA, we provided our position about the TGA’s potential reforms to regulating nicotine vaping products – through public consultation in January. 

Using e-cigarettes can cause respiratory disease, severe burns, nicotine poisoning and seizures. 


WA Seniors Strategy  

WA’s first-ever seniors’ strategy, ‘An Age-friendly WA: State Seniors Strategy 2023–2033 has just been released by the WA Department of Communities.

Following consultation with over 2,600 seniors across WA, the Strategy has been developed to support older people in WA to enhance their quality of life. 


WA Health Promotion Strategic Framework 2022-2026 

Injury Matters is pleased to welcome the launch of the WA Health Promotion Strategic Framework 2022-2026.

Injury Prevention and Health Promotion organisations work together, operating across systems to prevent the causes of injury and chronic disease. The focus on preventing injury and promoting safer communities, reducing harmful alcohol use, healthy eating and active living and reducing tobacco use is a balanced approach to prevention.  

We look forward to continued collaboration across sectors to “Protect and promote the health and wellbeing of western Australians”.


2023 ARSC Regional & Rural Scholarships

Applications for the Regional & Rural Scholarships are now open, supported by the Department of Transport and Main Roads in Queensland. Applications close 2 June 2023 at 11.59pm (AEST).
