New Family and Domestic Violence resources for CaLD communities

The Women’s Legal Service of WA has co-designed and produced community education posters, aimed at debunking myths commonly used by perpetrators to prevent women leaving an abusive relationship. The myths on the poster have been translated into Arabic, Farsi, Punjabi, and Vietnamese.

State of the Nation in Suicide Prevention report released

Suicide Prevention Australia has released the findings from its third annual State of the Nation survey. Gathering information from 283 respondents, the Report highlights key issues from the suicide prevention sector and the community to inform Suicide Prevention Australia’s National Policy Platform and advocacy work.

Women’s Grants for a Stronger Future Program

The Department of Communities is currently seeking applications for the Women’s Grants for a Stronger Future Program. $335,000 is available in 2022-23 to provide more opportunities to support a range of initiatives that advance gender equality and build a better, fairer and more equitable WA community. New sexual assault resources for First Nations communities

A range of resources are now available to equip professionals who support people with complex cases such as sexual trauma, by giving them guidance on how to have those difficult conversations. Information is also available for clients so they can have an understanding of their trauma and separate resources will help the community understand how to be supportive to their family member or friend who has been hurt.

National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022–2032

As a joint Australian, state and territory government initiative, the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022–2032 has been released. This Plan outlines a number of commitments to work towards ending violence against women and children in Australia in one generation.

16 Days in WA campaign

The annual 16 Days in WA campaign will run from 25 November to 10 December 2022. For 16 days, the community is invited to take part in encouraging change to stop violence against women.

ReachOut launches one-to-one online chat service for young people

ReachOut Australia has recently launched a new text-based support service for anyone aged 18-25 in Australia, ‘PeerChat’. This service connects a young person experiencing mental health challenges with a peer worker who can provide support based on their own experience.

The ADF Library is the largest and most up-to-date alcohol and other drugs library in Australia. It provides free access to a wide range of specialist print and online resources, including books, full-text articles from 11,000+ journals and databases.

Disability Gateway

Around 4.4 million Australians are living with disability and there are a wide range of services and supports available. However, searching for information and services can sometimes be difficult and complex.

The Disability Gateway is a free Australia-wide service to help people with disability, their families and carers find trusted information and services.
