Join Injury Matters as we learn about the concepts behind effective strength and balance training for falls prevention, which programs are most effective for individual target audiences and modifications to suit an individual’s needs.
The workshop will be a practical focus on strategies for preventing falls in older adults will be tailored to meet the needs of Allied Health Professionals (physiotherapists and OT’s). This Stay on Your Feet® workshop aims to:
- Improve awareness of how to improve strength and balance in older adults.
- Increase understanding of how to reduce poor strength and balance in older adults to prevent falls.
- Improve skills and knowledge of effective strategies to improve strength and balance in older adults.
The workshop will include concepts of LiFE (Lifestyle-integrated Functional Exercise), OTAGO, No Falls and also Tai Chi and will be facilitated by Tony Petta, Senior Physiotherapist, Falls Clinic (Department of Health) and Sam Sujatna, Master Tai Chi instructor.
