eLearning module: Introduction to Falls Prevention

Developed for exercise and activity coordinators (i.e. fitness instructors, therapy assistants, and peer exercise leaders), the Introduction to Falls Prevention eLearning module aims to equip non-health professionals with a background knowledge of falls, age-related changes, and the impact of these on an individual’s function, mobility, and falls risk.

This eLearning module consists of ten self-paced lessons, with a quiz and a survey on completion, and is anticipated to take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Individuals who complete the quiz and survey will receive a certificate of completion for the eLearning module.

This interactive, practical, and evidence-informed eLearning module will help you facilitate effective and relevant falls prevention exercise strategies for older adults living in the community. This eLearning module includes the following content:

  • Falls and why falls prevention is important
  • The ageing process, health conditions, and their impact on falls risk
  • The impact of gait, balance, strength, and flexibility on falls risk
  • Identifying falls risk among older adults
  • How to implement safe exercise practice within your work
  • Falls prevention resources and information

This module is suitable for Exercise and Activity Coordinators, Fitness Trainers, Peer Exercise Leaders, and Allied Health Assistants.
