This week Injury Matters celebrated 20 years of delivering the Stay On Your Feet® program on behalf of the Western Australian Department of Health. In acknowledgement of this milestone Injury Matters hosted a birthday breakfast event showcasing the stories of the people, projects, and partnerships that have had a positive impact on older Western Australian adults through the Stay On Your Feet® program.
Held at Ambrose Estate, Wembley on Thursday morning, Injury Matters brought together past and current staff members, volunteer peer educators, partners, and key stakeholders who have supported the delivery of the Stay On Your Feet® program over the last 20 years. Laughter and smiles filled the room, as guests enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect and reminisce with old friends and colleagues.

On a beautiful spring morning, Injury Matters was honored to have guest speakers Christine Tonkin, local Labor Member for Churchlands; Dr Denise Sullivan, A/Assistant Director General Public and Aboriginal Health Division at Department of Health; and current Peer Educator, Jo Godecke speak about their experience with the program.
We took a stroll down Stay On Your Feet® memory lane, showcasing a video which reflected on the history, evolution and accomplishments of the program, including community presentations, displays, expos, newsletters, social media, mass media campaigns, professional development and collaboration activities with health services and key stakeholders.

Injury Matters is proud to deliver the Stay On Your Feet® program, as it has had a positive impact on people’s perception of falls and helped increase awareness of how to prevent slips, trips and falls in our older adult community.
A huge thank you to the many faces who have supported the delivery of the Stay On Your Feet® program over the past twenty years, and to the WA Department of Health, key partnerships and the broader WA falls prevention sector for the ongoing support. We look forward to seeing what the next twenty years holds.
